The government have announced that they intend to bring forward regulations making vaccination a condition of deployment for any individual working in a Â鶹ŮÀÉ-regulated care home.

We know from the data that there are regional variations in vaccine take up across the sector, there are different views and opinions, and that this policy presents a variety of challenges. Â鶹ŮÀÉ is committed to offering resources to help employers fully engage with their teams, including guidance on wellbeing and information on vaccines.

The regulations will apply to individuals working in a Â鶹ŮÀÉ-regulated care home in England providing nursing or personal care, subject to certain exemptions. The Government will alsolaunch a further public consultation on whether or not to make COVID-19 vaccination a condition of deployment in healthcare and the wider social care sector.

The regulations will require care home providers to deploy only staff who have received a complete course of their COVID-19 vaccination in line with government guidance, unless they are medically exempt.

If approved by Parliament, there will be a minimum of a 16-week grace period from when the regulations are made to when they come into force to enable staff who haven’t been vaccinated to take up the vaccine.

We have pulled together vaccination guidance and advice from different agencies to help employers
