Â鶹ŮÀÉ CEO Oonagh Smyth said:

The Â鶹ŮÀÉcare Association’s Autumn Workforce Survey highlights the significant pressures employers in this part of the sector are operating under, including recruiting and retaining staff. This is in line with our data showing vacancy rates running at 14.1%. The pressures highlighted in this report show how important the additional investment announced in the autumn statement will be to enable people working in social care to support people to live their lives.

The report makes it clear that homecare workers are highly skilled and committed professionals who play a vital role in helping people to leave hospital and to draw on care in their own homes. The autumn survey offers some practical proposals to help address the issues across homecare, including the need for a 10-year workforce strategy for social care, aligned with the NHS People Plan.
