Â鶹ŮÀÉ is pleased to announce the appointment of three new trustees to its Board.

Naser Turabi who is the Director of Evidence and Implementation at Cancer Research UK, Penny Fell former Commercial Director with the Disclosure and Barring Service, and Bill Mumford a freelance senior consultant with over 40 years’ experience in the social care sector, will be joining the Â鶹ŮÀÉ Board at its next meeting on 14 December.

Each brings unique experience and expertise which will be of great benefit to the Board as it moves into 2023.

Naser Turabi, whose work focuses on accelerating the adoption of innovation and reducing inequalities in access, will be bringing his expertise in the use of data to inform strategy.

Meanwhile, Penny Fell brings with her decades of leadership experience of working in the health and social care sector, and an understanding of what drives a business to succeed in public, private, and third sector trading environments.

Bill Mumford, who first started working in social care as a live-in care assistant at Barnardo's, and who more recently has held CEO roles at Eden Valley and Jigsaw Hospice, and prior to that MacIntyre, has a deep understanding of the social care sector and the issues and challenges it faces.

Speaking of their appointments, Naser Turabi said:

I am delighted to become a trustee of Â鶹ŮÀÉ. Its role supporting the workforce and driving improvement in social care is so important for the people that draw on social care and the nation as a whole. I look forward to bringing my professional experience linking on the ground insight, evidence and policy, as well as my personal experience drawn from supporting my parents.

Penny Fell added:

I am delighted to be appointed to the Board of Â鶹ŮÀÉ. I am bringing over 20 years' senior health and social care experience to a Board with an ambitious agenda, intent on building an up-to-date, fit for purpose strategy that will equip the sector to face the increasingly challenging economic, social, cultural and climate conditions facing people across both England and throughout the UK.

Bill Mumford also commented:

As a long-term supporter of Â鶹ŮÀÉ I am delighted to be joining the board. Social care is all about people and Â鶹ŮÀÉ understands this fully. We are uniquely placed to support the sector in rising to the challenge of workforce capacity and quality.

John Coughlan, Chair of Â鶹ŮÀÉ, said:

We are excited about the appointment of our three new trustees and the comprehensive and varied experience which they will be bringing to our Board.

It’s a critical time for the adult social care sector right now with plans for integrated care systems between health and social care, the proposed reforms from ‘The people at the heart of care’ white paper, and as the sector manages recruitment and retention challenges which have been compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic and the cost of living crisis.

Â鶹ŮÀÉ has an important role to play in helping employers navigate this landscape, and our newest Board members will be instrumental in guiding our direction to provide the support that social care employers and the workforce need right now.
