Keeping Well in South East London (KWSEL) have been celebrating an award win for supporting the mental wellbeing of the workforce.

KWSEL is a staff support hub for all health and social care staff across South East London. The team were delighted to win the Positive Practice in Mental Health award for "Mental Wellbeing of the Workforce" last month.

The Positive Practice in Mental Health Collaborative is a collaborative of over fifty organisations, including NHS trusts, clinical commissions groups, police forces, third sector providers, frontline charities and service user groups.

Their purpose is to promote positive practice in mental health services by working together across organisations and sectors, to facilitate shared learning, and to raise the profile of mental health with politicians and policy makers.

The Positive Practice in Mental Health awards has been running for many years to award the work of organisations supporting good mental wellbeing.

KWSEL decided to enter the awards this year as they felt it would be a good way to demonstrate their hard work from setting up during the pandemic, and also to raise the profile of the importance of workforce wellbeing across all sectors.

In their entry they spoke about how the service was developed in lockdown in response to pandemic and pressure this placed on health and social care staff and highlighted the unique opportunities they’re offering the care sector, including bespoke wellbeing sessions.

The winner for each category was selected by a panel of judges from a variety of backgrounds connected with the mental health field.

When the team heard they had been selected as a winner they were incredibly excited and pleased that the hard work of the team had been recognised, and that others has seen the value in their work.

Sara Gilmer, Assistant Psychologist at KWSEL said:

Supporting staff’s wellbeing is our core mission, and we are very proud of all that we’ve achieved to date. Winning an award like this feels fantastic as it is recognition of the importance of our service.
