Bowfell House care worker wins 鈥楴ewcomer of the year鈥� at regional Great British Care Awards

It was a proud day for the whole team at Bowfell House when one of their care workers scooped the 鈥楴ewcome of the year鈥� award at the regional Great British Care Awards.
Hannah Bates won the award at the regional event, having been working at Bowfell House for six months.
Claire Callaghan, Registered Manager at Bowfell House, said:
Every now and again, a shining star enters the world of health and social care. Here at Bowfell House, we feel incredibly lucky to have had Hannah Bates join our team!
She鈥檚 only been with us for six months, but during that time she has absolutely amazed us by her approach. Attending our recruitment open day as she was looking to move away from the hospitality industry, we got a positive feeling about her from the start. Since day one she demonstrated the most amazing communication skills with person centred care notes that belie her limited experience.
Hannah says:
I remember my first day within the world of care and from the moment I walked through the doors of Bowfell House, I knew it was where I鈥檝e always wanted to work. I feel so lucky to have found a job that I love and am forever grateful to the team that supports me. If you chose a job you love, you will never have to work a day in your life.
Claire told us that, with two young children at home, Hannah continues to be bright, bubbly and a positive influence on those around her. Her compassion shines through in her interactions with the people she supports and with her colleagues, supporting all to achieve the highest outcomes. Speaking of the award, Claire added:
We were delighted to nominate Hannah as Newcomer of the Year at the Great British Care Awards and even more thrilled for her when she won the regional finals! Next stop will be the National Finals in Birmingham and we know she has what it takes.
